SC.9 CANBERRA CONVERSION

SC.9 Canberra conversion

This set comprises a new nose section and the specific wing tanks for the 1/48 scale Airfix PR.9 model.

The nose section is a direct replacement part, and the tanks fit directly onto the wings using the existing location holes.

Supplied in the set is a set of decals to do one of four schemes the aircraft flew in, some additional decals will be required from the

original kit.

This set would not have been possible without the help and assistance of the following people, and I here are the names and the input provided.
My interest started with the Adhoc publication book on the PR 9, by Roger Chesneau, Roger has become a good friend and has assisted me on a few occassions now. The scale drawings at the back of the book are very helpful however these were drawn as a representation and not as definative drawings, and therefore in my research I have found that the top nose housing as drawn is not 100 % correct and also the wing tanks need to be different from each other as well, one pointed and one rounded at the rear.
The next person who assisted was Les Bywaters, known by many for his work on the Canberra website, unfortunately Les passed away in January 2009, so I am not able to complete my thanks to him. He assisted me in getting hold of the biggest assistant on the project that being Albino Panigari.
Albino Panigari, as a brief background he is the man that owns the nose section of XH132, and he lives in Italy. All I can say that he is a very intersting and a very helpful man and he went out of his way to provide many pictures and dimensions of the nose section of this very interesting aircraft. All I can say is that I hope that I have captured the shape and perspective of this tricky nose shape and done it the best justice that I can.
Steve Smith assisted with the tank shapes and he has and excellent picture on www.jetphotos.net this show’s the RAE scheme coming into land.
Other pictures can also be found of this one of a kind aircraft on www.airliners.net
